Graduation Day - July 2010
The 15th of July was a special day for everyone at TEENS+,
as this was the day that our first set of students graduated. The graduation celebrations were held at Jewel and Esk
College, which as you may already know, is linked with TEENS+; after a couple of speeches, and to much applause from
friends, family and staff, the students made their way up to the stage to collect their certificates. The students then
returned the favour by showing their appreciation to some of our longest-standing volunteers, and presenting them with their
own certificate of achievement.
This semester the students begin Phase 2 of the programme, LIFE+.
Festive Fun -
December 2009
Leading
up to the holidays, everyone got into the festive spirit. What with trips to Winter Wonderland, baking Christmas cookies
and an end of term party, good times were had all round!
Outings Week - April 2009Among
the activities chosen by the students for Outings Week, was a trip to East Links Family Park. A grand day out was had
by all thanks to good weather and good company. Other
outing week activities included a train ride to Dundee to visit the 'Discovery' and an afternoon of Skittles at Edinburgh's
famous Sheep's Heid Inn.
RED NOSE DAY 2009
This year our students raised a total of £117 towards Comic Relief. While some
students participated in a (very engergetic!) 'bounce-a-thon', one student stayed quiet as a mouse and raised
money in a 'sponsered silence'.
Well done everyone!
Some very silly wigs helped
everyone get into the spirit of things on the day :-)
Halloween 2008
This
Halloween, preparations started early. First things first, making decorations for the party! - these ranged from the more traditional
pumpkins and witches, to a decidedly more original 'disco bat'. The students then moved on to the
task of carving out pumpkins to help create a more spooky atmosphere on the day. This also provided plenty of tasty seeds
to snack on later! When halloween finally arrived Teens+ was taken over by witches, werewolves, scarecrows, dinosaurs...and
even a chicken! Look at photos below to see who you think looks most scary.
Teens+ Olympics 2008
To celebrate the games in Beijing, the
students at Teens+ participated in their own version of the Olympics; events including track, swimming and trampolining.
Each
student represented a country of their choice, having previously fashioned their nations' flags for our Olympic wall display.
Represented in these Olympics were Great Britain, Australia, Italy, Germany, South Korea and the United States of America.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme
In May 2007, the students at TEENS+, completed the first section of their Bronze Award. This was the physical
recreation section for which the students completed 12 hours of swimming, running, using the machines in the gym, and
trampolining. These pictures show the students receiving their certificates from the Duke of Edinburgh.
Next, the students are completing the Service section of the Award. For this, the students have had a recycling
workshop, done 6 hours recycling; and completed conservation work in Capielaw Woods, working along with the Green
Team.
