TEENS+ programme

“TEENS+ believes that young people with complex additional support needs and communication difficulties will obtain long-term benefit from the provision of tailored, education-based programmes designed to support their transition from school to adult services”

Each young person follows an individualised programme tailored to his or her needs. Student progress is reviewed continually on an individual basis through Personal Tutorials and Student Reviews. TEENS+ is a satellite of Jewel and Esk Valley College and is working in partnership with Edinburgh Leisure, Health and Social Care, and Lothian NHS Board.

There is currently no other suitable continuing education available to school leavers who have complex support needs. We believe that these young people would benefit from a further four years of activity with a strong emphasis on education and where the other participants are of similar age and ability. TEENS+ aims to provide a specific, educational model to a group of young people of the same age who will continue to learn and develop skills to help them live more independent lives.
