Capability Scotland
Capability works with disabled people of all ages and their families and carers throughout Scotland. In addition
to providing a range of modern, flexible services they are also a campaigning organisation, committed to using the influence
we have to ensure disabled people achieve the same human and civil rights as the rest of society.
AFASIC - 'Unlocking Speech and Language' Across the UK the lives of over 1 million children and young adults are affected by the hidden disabilit of speech,
language and communication impairments. AFASIC is the UK charity established to help these children and young people,
their families and the professionals working with them.
ENABLE Scotland A dynamic charity run by its members. They campaign for a better life for children and adults with learning disabilities
and support them and their families to live, work and take part in their communities
Scottish Society for Autism The Society has been supporting people and families in Scotland affected by autism for over 40 years.
Royal National Institute of the Blind, Scotland RNIB Scotland is the leading charity working with blind and partially sighted people in Scotland
Epilepsy Scotland Campaign for improved healthcare, better information provision and an end to stigma. In April 2008 Enlighten - Tackling
Epilepsy merged with Epilepsy Scotland.
Down's Syndrome Scotland Aims to improve the quality of life for everyone in Scotland with Down's Syndrome. If you are looking for

Whizz-Kidz A charity that is all about giving disabled children the chance to lead a more independent life. Our service meets their

EnquireThe Scottish independent advice and information service for additional support for learning (special
educational needs). It is managed by Children in Scotland and funded by the Scottish Executive.
Lead ScotlandVoluntary organisation set up to support disabled young people and adults and carers to access post-school
education.
Equity in EducationEquity in Education is working to develop sustainable inclusive education structures for all children

The Transporters
The Transporters is a series to watch on DVD, set in a world of imaginary toy vehicle characters who have emotional
experiences and adventures. The series was created especially for children with autism spectrum conditions who find it hard
to recognise causes of emotion and facial expressions of emotion. The accompanying website gives ideas for teachers and parents
from which to develop lesson plans and activities that will reinforce a child's understanding of emotions, their causes
and consequences, and their associated facial expressions. Equal opportunities

Youth Music Youth Music is the Uk's largest children's music charity, set up in 1999 to promote and support music-making opportunities
for children with the least access. Provides a comprehensive range of resources for developing your organisation, as well as information
on topics such as Community Planning, Grants and what's going on in the Edinburgh voluntary sector. A resource for groups and organisations developing their volunteer programmes, with training events,
resource library and general guides. SCVO works to advance the values and shared interests of the voluntary sector in Scotland.
